Europe shopping and money

Despite the blistering August heat, Lucy made the long, tiring 800m trek to Siân's house for their intrepid expedition to King's Chase Shopping Centre. To protect her sensitive eyes from the blazing sun, Siân lent Lucy her sunglasses (which suit Siân oh-so-much and are very flattering - see Figure A), and the pair boldly strode (at record speeds of 2mph - it was hot, okay?) to NatWest so Lucy could change £77-worth of coins, which she'd resolutely lugged the whole way, into cash.

Figure A
Donning her fetching bum-bag in this season's colour, beige with flecks of Kenyan mud, she ingeniously protected her entire trip savings from the extremely dangerous criminal neighbourhood, dodging midday pickpockets and broad-daylight muggers alike, honing her self-defence skills. The duo then ventured to Kingswood's very own Cheques & Change to harvest euros and Czech koruna for their travels. They left laden with euros and an IOU for the koruna, which for some reason isn't a particularly popular currency. Weird. Next on their itinerary was the Post Office, where they were served by a very nice gentleman called Matt (Lucy: he did a degree in maths so is cool) (Siân: we held up the queue for ages whilst they talked about pure vs applied maths, sigh) and collected and topped up a Money Travel Card each.

The chins were out today
After such an arduous hour and a half, Lucy's bladder could take no more. Sainsbury's once again heroically saved further strain with its free-to-use toilet, and the two took advantage of this. At least, Lucy did. Battling with the difficulties associated with weeing in a playsuit required some time and effort. Siân was left to guard Lucy's belongings as though her life depended on it (Siân: which, to be quite frank, it did).

Wilkinson's was the next challenge, and not blanching in the face of the task of locating SPF 50 suncream, the adventurers triumphed. With shopping bags laden with travel essentials, they finally made their way back to Siân's to refuel with biscuits and a nice sit down.

A successful day
